My top 10 of 2014

So, I read a total of 28 books in 2014, and wanted to do a best 10 of 2014. Since I haven't posted it yet here they are:
10. Deserted by Deena Lipomi
9. Accidentally Married by Victorine E. Lieske
8. Nerve by Jeanne Ryan
7. Endurance by Ann Aguirre
6. Allegiant by Veronica Roth
5. Four by Veronica Roth
4. The One by Kiera Cass
3. The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
2. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
1. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Now, as I said these are only my top 10 out of the 28 that I read last year. The majority of these books are young-adult dystopian/apocalypse/post-apocalyptic books, however there are a few contemporary books on this list. I know that Veronica Roth has both Allegiant and Four on this list, and I put them both on, because I love both of the stories and feel that they both deserve to be on this list. The first 4 books (1-4) all have sequels coming out at some point within the next couple years and already have other books that go with them, some of them I have read, others I will have to wait for. Anyway, those are my top 10 of 2014.

In other news, I will be in Cincinnati Ohio the 31st of this month at the Joseph-Beth Bookstore at 6 p.m for the Fairest book signing, so if you are heading there, look for me!. So yeah come say hi! Would love to meet some of you!

                                                                   Thanks!

Book Review 34: Deserted by Deena Lipomi

So, Xpresso Reads sent me a copy of Deserted to review, and I am late getting the review up (again), Sorry!
I don't have a lot to say about this book, except that it was a quick exciting read! There is minimal language in it and I grabbed my attention from the start. At only 171 pages (on my phone), I already want more of this story! I just need to find it...
I can't wait to read more from Deena. This book is a Young Adult, suspenseful, thriller (at least in my opinion). The protagonist is a sarcastic, quick witted teenage girl, who knows what she wants and tries every possible scenario to get it...
And, of course there is the handsome, soon to be bf who comes to the rescue! You see both his and her perspictive, and I love the way it is written. Seriously, you need to buy this book and read it!

Synopsis:
Seventeen-year-old Kara is done spying on people for her father, the wealthy and morally corrupt businessman Dr. Ellison. Last summer, when her father’s project literally blew up, she fell hard for one of his victims: Leo, the hot musician who made her question her family’s rules. Now Leo’s clear across the country, and Kara’s ready to reinvent herself in Las Vegas.

Of course her father has to mess up that plan, too. He claims a rogue environmental group wants him dead because of his latest alternative energy business venture, and that he needs Kara back on his payroll as the only one he can fully trust. With nowhere else to turn, Kara sends Leo a distressed text message – just before she’s kidnapped, a bargaining chip of the vigilantes who are determined to end her father’s moneymaking plans.

Leo is battling the pains of his last run-in with Dr. Ellison but he wastes no time hopping a plane to Vegas to rescue Kara. As he struggles to find her, the pair tries to learn all they can about the project Dr. Ellison is directing in the hopes of using the information to free Kara. Because if there’s one thing they’ve learned from Dr. Ellison, it’s that no risk is too big when it comes to fame and fortune, life and death.
